Weekly Flower Bouquet - May 11, 2015 Lovely Lilacs

Isn't this the perfect time ofyear to get in the habit of creating a weekly flower arrangement? Whether you pick something from your garden or head to your local florist, there is so much fresh material around that you can do something unique each week.

I chose to head out my back door and clip some lilacs. There are about 5 huge buses growing along the back of the house and they are all covered withlilacs right now. there are two different varieties. One is a paler purple (hmmm, could that be describes as lilac?) and the other is a deeper purple.

Pick 4 or 5 stems, strip off any leaves that will be below the water line, and put them into your favorite vase at a height that you like. Don't forget to reclip the stems just before you put them in water as all stems will start to reseal in thetime it takes to get them from the yard into the house. The vase shown is an old one and was purchased from the Smithsonian Museum back in the mid 1970's but it pairs well with the lilacs.
